the human behind drinkable genius

Chelsea Gregoire (she/her/they/them) is the owner and consultant behind the lightbulb. In every position they have held, Chelsea studied spirits, wine, beer, coffee, tea, and food, and then combined them with their vast experience in hospitality, education, and leadership, to create Drinkable Genius in 2015. In addition to consulting on bar programs both new and existing, Chelsea uses their experience in the hospitality industry to develop strong training protocol, create efficient systems and processes, and assist brands and organizations in streamlining and appealing to a greater audience. Chelsea’s philosophy of hospitality has dictated every value instilled in the work Drinkable Genius does: all people are worthy of respect, and there is no room in hospitality for anything less than absolute inclusivity and equity. Chelsea is a helping hand to national and regional bartender conferences, and an active member of the national cocktail community. 

Since creating Drinkable Genius, Chelsea has been awarded a number of accolades, both locally and nationally. Some of the most notable include being named America’s Beverage Director of the Year by Esquire, an Eater Young Gun, and even Best Bartender by multiple local publications.

Chelsea has a Masters degree in theology, which has helped them to understand human beings and our innate need for belonging and connection. Chelsea is a Baltimore native, an urbanite with a love for nature, and someone with a passion for delicious food, delightful experiences, and how they draw people together. They married their partner in life and work, Shandi, in 2016, and is a proud cat parent to Bear.
